They started as a punk band called Defaced in 1999 and changed their name to ANS in 2003 to avoid confusion with another punk act named Defaced. Since the end of 2011, ANS has been mostly inactive. The four members live in different cities across the US, with only Andrew Messer, still living in Denton.
